As a boy, Charles James Barton Anderson lived at Aucharnie Farm near Huntly. He went to the local primary school at Forgue and then on to Huntly for his secondary education. When in Huntley he stayed in lodgings during the week, returning home at weekends, but later he commuted daily in a three wheeler car, which he shared with two of his siblings.
