BMA annual meeting: Doctors call for ban on using e-cigarettes in public places

Electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes) should be banned from use in public places and restrictions placed on their advertising, doctors at the BMA’s annual representative meeting have said.

Delegates at the meeting in Harrogate voted in support of a motion stating that “e-cigarettes may be entry portals to nicotine addiction.” The motion called on governments to “prohibit ‘vaping’ on e-cigarettes in public places where smoking is prohibited,” and it urged the BMA to “lobby for the restriction of e-cigarette advertising in the UK.”
