My brother, John Daniel McCrea, and his wife, Josephine, were driving along the A69 to Newcastle airport on 23 March 2014, when he had a cardiac arrest. He was eventually resuscitated and transferred to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle. He never regained consciousness and, after a number of his organs were removed for transplantation, he passed away peacefully at 3.15 am on 28 March, with Josephine and their beloved daughter Sophia at his bedside.
John was born in Belfast, the first of four sons to Daniel Francis and Sara Frances McCrea. His early childhood was uneventful, and he completed his secondary education at St MacNissi’s College in County Antrim. It was there …
