GPs in London are taking to the streets today to try to increase pressure on ministers to review changes to funding that threaten the viability of almost 100 surgeries across England.1
NHS England has admitted that the abolition of the payments made under the minimum practice income guarantee (MPIG) will leave 98 general practices at risk of closure or service reduction,2 because of their atypically young, deprived, rural, or non-English speaking populations.
In Tower Hamlets, east London, where five practices are at risk, GPs, staff, and patients have organised a march through the borough to raise awareness of their plight.
