General practice is the “building blocks” of the NHS, and without it the system would collapse, the chairman of the BMA’s General Practitioners Committee told representatives attending the BMA’s local medical committees conference in York this week.
In his first speech to the conference as chairman of the committee, Chaand Nagpaul said, “Let me warn those that continue in their quest to denigrate us . . . you certainly won’t have the last laugh when you won’t have a GP to turn to in times of need and when the NHS collapses …
