Investigate scale and causes of food poverty, say public health specialists

Public health specialists have urged the UK government to set up an independent working group to monitor nutrition and hunger linked to “increasing” food poverty.
The call came in an open letter to Prime Minister David Cameron published on 1 May in the Lancet and signed by 170 members and associates of the Faculty of Public Health.1
