China to investigate widespread drugging of kindergarten children

China’s Ministry of Education and the National Health and Family Planning Commission have ordered drug tests for all children attending nurseries, kindergartens, and primary and middle schools across the entire country.1

The blanket drug testing is in response to a string of scandals involving eight kindergartens in four provinces where kindergarten staff were found to have routinely administered prescription anti-viral drugs to students without their parents’ knowledge or consent.
