Hitler and the Nazis certainly used the term "lebensraum" to justify their actions whether they invented the term or not.

I'm sure the 20m or so that Stalin murdered would not agree that he was much of an egalitarian, nor were the Tasmanian settlers or the English colonialists, but they were driven by greed, contempt of the natives and self-interest much as you say. They may not have been starving then, but they wanted to make sure that they didn't in the future.

Although you didn't mention the Tutsis and the Hutus, the last paragraph of your first letter perfectly describes what happened to them when the population exploded. At least many survived, unlike the people of Easter Island, who did not.

Malthus predicted all this; he was a true prophet.
