Global warming and climate change are upon us. Who is responsible and what is to be done? The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the UN website gives an up to date animal count on the planet. It goes: 6 billion horses, 11 billion asses, 24 billion livestock (cattle pigs sheep..), mammals number 400 billion and fish over a trillion. Birds 400 billion and amphibians reptiles insects zooplankton etc make an enormous figure. Humans number 7 billion. Of these 7 billion most are infertile (too old, too young, ill, infertile for other causes...)and a large proportion are and will be over 65 years old in the developed world in the coming decades.
What will contraception do? It will do three things. It will continue to increase the numbers of dependent elderly with no one to look after them; it will damage the economy because of scarcity of young vibrant indigenous workers; it will multiply the numbers of young women with breast cancer and thromboembolic and other significant adverse effects from exogenous female hormones. It will have no impact on climate change except to make our living conditions worse as just mentioned.
If animals or mammals or humans are the cause of climate change well the obvious thing is to contracept the asses and livestock? Climate change is due to carbon emissions among other things and the way to reduce them is to change production and fuel. You don't cure potato blight by contracepting the farmers!
