This editorial seems to be suggesting that vitamin D is of little or no benefit in treating or preventing osteoporosis. One paper cited does, in fact, point out that vitamin D alone is ineffective and that it should be combined with calcium [1]. You do not repeat this message. One Japanese study has suggest an optimal synergistic combination of vitamin D, calcium and vitamin K in osteopenia and very early stages of osteoporosis for two years. Lumbar bone mineral density increased by nearly 5% [2].
