Merck brings maternity program designed for poor nations to the US

The drug company Merck on November 19 announced that it will bring its program developed to reduce maternal deaths in impoverished nations to the United States to help address the country’s soaring maternal mortality rate.
The program, Merck for Mothers, is a 10 year $500m (£310m; €371m) global initiative that is currently operating in more than 20 countries, including such nations as Senegal, Uganda, and Zambia.
