England’s health secretary, Jeremy Hunt, took his appeal against a judge’s ruling stopping him from cutting Lewisham Hospital’s accident and emergency services to the Court of Appeal this week.
He argued that High Court judge Mr Justice Silber erred in law last July when he quashed Hunt’s decision to downgrade the hospital’s accident and emergency and maternity units.1
