The promise from the health secretary to remove some of the performance targets set for GPs in England will strip funding from general practice, the chairwoman of the Royal College of General Practitioners has said.
Speaking at an “ask the chair anything” session at the annual meeting of the RCGP in Harrogate on Friday 4 October, Clare Gerada said that the college had asked many times for the original and more limited list of incentive payments to GPs to be restored to replace the current more numerous targets but that those requests had been ignored.
