The contrast could not be sharper between the pleasure I get from teaching medical students and junior doctors and the ennui I often have to endure in the training sessions I am compelled to undergo to help them learn. Recently, I attended a two hour session of mind numbing tedium, one of five I will have to complete to be deemed competent as an educational supervisor. But on completion there will be no assessment of my skills to measure how much this experience has improved me.
