Dr Gerada, Chairwoman of RCGP has now expressly stated, We also know that this is a culturally specific exam - it stands to reason if you are born and brought up in this country, within the NHS, that you have an advantage[1].Undoubtedly, this is a very clear acknowledgement that overseas-born & qualified doctors would be at a distinct disadvantage; given the judicial review is all about this disadvantage (or less favourable treatment) by reason of race/ethnic origin, BAPIO should now thank Dr Gerada for her honesty and frankness. By the way, the court has now confirmed that the GMC should also be a defendant to the forthcoming judicial review proceedings which will be heard over three days[2], next year.
