NIH and family of Henrietta Lacks reach agreement on access to HeLa genome

The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) has reached an agreement with the family of Henrietta Lacks over access to genome data derived from HeLa cells.
Under the agreement, the family will serve on a new NIH working group that will review all applications for access to the full sequence data from HeLa cells and all NIH funded researchers who generate full genome sequence data from HeLa cell lines will be expected to deposit their data in a single database overseen by the working group.
