Republicans have acted in an “unprecedented fashion to undermine the Affordable Care Act and ensure it is a failure,” says a report prepared by the Democratic staff of the US House Committee on Energy and Commerce.
The report, Ten Ways Republicans Have Acted to Undermine the Affordable Care Act, said that Republican efforts to block the law included refusing to expand Medicaid coverage or to participate in the establishment of state health insurance exchanges, refusing to fund implementation of the law, and threatening to shut down the government unless the law was defunded.1 Their efforts had sought to confuse the public about the law by spreading misinformation and by blocking public outreach and education efforts.
