Economic crisis hits people with mental health problems hardest: People with mental health problems have been “disproportionately” affected by the economic crisis, research from across Europe has found.2 Between 2006 and 2010 the unemployment rate for people without mental health problems rose from 7.1% to 9.8 %, but for people with mental health problems the increase was double (5.5%), with unemployment rising from 12.7% to 18.2%.
