- M G C Eminson
Basil Ian Franklin Eminson was the fifth, and last, generation of his family to practise medicine in North Lincolnshire. He destined for a medical career––like his father, two uncles, and two cousins. Brought up in Scotter, he was strongly influenced by his grandparents, and one of his earliest memories was watching his grandmother making “infusions” from the opium poppies grown in the kitchen garden. During these same early years, he first became aware of effect of poverty on the lives of many of the practice patients––and this made him a staunch supporter of the principles of the NHS.
