Leonard Sinclair had both an encyclopaedic knowledge of clinical paediatrics as well as a passion for research which he pursued throughout his career. He was a consultant paediatrician at Charing Cross Hospital and, before that, St Stephens Hospital, as well as consultant to the Throat, Nose, and Ear Hospital, in London’s Gray’s Inn Road. He was a founder member of the Royal College of Paediatrics, when it was founded in 1967, and of the Society of Inborn Errors of Metabolism, founded in 1968.
