Former GP and public health consultant is to stand in Eastleigh byelection in support of NHS

A local doctor, expert on public health, and former navy medical officer is to stand in the Eastleigh byelection on 28 February for the National Health Action Party, which was set up last year by doctors and public health experts to defend the NHS, something it says no other party is doing.

The seat in Hampshire has become available after the resignation of the Liberal Democrat Chris Huhne.
