As is his wont, Spence is provocative in arguing that statins are bad medicine.1 Heart attacks are multifactorial, due to risk factors (not disease) such as cholesterol and sloth. But in the UK they have been declining dramatically in incidence and mortality for over 40 years.2 Survival, and thus prevalence of ischaemic heart disease, is increasing, partly thanks to statins. …
