For regular readers of the BMJ this film will not draw any great gasps of surprise. The US spends too much on healthcare: $2.7 trillion (£1.8 trillion; €2 trillion) in total, more than twice per head of other developed nations, almost 20% of its gross domestic product.
The system is focused too much on cure over prevention, is inherently incentivized to overtreat its patients, and has poor outcomes compared with most other developed nations.
Most of the talking heads, and the examples they give, are also names and subjects well known to anybody with an interest in the perils …
