There is no evidence base for proposed dementia screening

Absolutely agree.

The government's proposals are screening in all but name. They have not been thought through and no consideration has been given to the anxiety generated by testing and management of the large number of those who will be labelled as mild cognitive impairment (another non disease?) .

This demonstrates the too cosy relationship between health charities and the Department of Health.

We used to have two people in a consulting room, now we have four - the doctor, the patient, the politician and the lobbyist for the health charity who demands action for 'their' disease. Are we not allowed to grow old, and perhaps forgetful, gracefully?
