The men who will lead two of the most influential and powerful NHS bodies have been confirmed in their posts.
The Department of Health confirmed on 13 December that David Haslam will be the chairman of the drugs watchdog the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence and that David Prior will become chairman of the main NHS regulator, the Care Quality Commission.
Both men were selected as the government’s preferred candidates for these posts but had to appear before the parliamentary health select committee recently for pre-appointment scrutiny.1 2
