A £132m (€160m; $210m) contract awarded to Richard Branson’s healthcare company to run children’s health and social care services in Devon failed to comply with the law but can still go ahead, a judge has ruled.

Judge Christopher Vosper, sitting in the High Court at Swansea, held that Devon County Council and the primary care cluster of NHS Devon, Plymouth and Torbay had failed to carry out the equality impact assessment required by law at an early enough stage in the procurement process.
