Correction to How US politicians are playing the health card
This feature by Michael McCarthy (BMJ 2012;345:e6413, doi:10.1136/bmj.e6413) should have noted that Todd Akin is a Republican representative for Missouri, not Arkansas, as published. Accordingly, the second sentence of the fourth paragraph under the subheading “Down ticket races” should have read: “In Missouri, support for Republican representative Todd Akin, who was challenging Senator Claire McCaskill, a vulnerable incumbent Democrat, plummeted when he said in a radio interview women do not get pregnant as the result of ‘legitimate rape.’”
