Organ matching website says it will operate within the law

The founders of a US organisation that offers to “match” people seeking organ transplants with potential living donors in the UK have sought to reassure regulators they will work within the law.
Paul Dooley, chief executive of Boston based MatchingDonors.com, has written to the UK Human Tissue Authority to explain how a UK version of the website (www.matchingdonors.co.uk) would operate after its launch last week.
He said he agreed “wholeheartedly” with the authority’s position that for transplants to go ahead legally there must be consent and no reward could be given, offered, or sought for the supply of an organ.
He said his staff would monitor email interactions to help “deter potential misdoings.”
