Another long haul flight in economy class, another pulmonary embolus. More than a decade after I experienced my first one, it was déjà vu. Fourteen horrible hours crammed in the back of a plane, several weeks of foolish denial that my leg was swollen, a few days of increasing breathlessness, and, finally, lifesaving intervention from colleagues who were unfazed when my symptoms hijacked our editorial meeting.
