Medical students’ characteristics as predictors of career practice location: retrospective cohort study tracking graduates of Nepal’s first medical college

The finding of this study is to be blamed upon the lack of value-based learning in medical education. While they are always groomed as saviors, the required values and attitude of an ideal savior is entirely absent in them. Marketing principles and commercial greed guides this noble profession in avoidance of any ethics and idealism. Given the findings of the study, autonomy cannot be guaranteed to medical graduates in making their career choice in case we are in the hunt for any equity in provision of health care services. This is a profession that requires a lot more of empathy rather than opportunism to serve those in need and not those who bid.
