Japanese doctor is heading for record number of retracted research papers

Yoshitaku Fujii, a former associate professor at Toho University in Japan, faked 172 research papers between 1993 and 2011, an investigation by the Japanese Society of Anesthesiologists has concluded.
Fujii, a specialist in postoperative nausea and vomiting who was sacked by the university in February,1 2 is likely to set a record once all the fabricated papers are retracted, the website Retraction Watch has predicted. It said that the German anaesthetist Joachim Boldt holds the previous unofficial record for retractions, with 89 papers retracted.3 4
