The NHS in England is poised to take a great “leap forward” in the way leadership and management are developed and supported, its chief executive, David Nicholson, has said.
He said that efforts would be made to develop “talent” from diverse backgrounds, identify those people likely to reach top leadership positions, and bring greater transparency to a system that is over-reliant on what he called “informal networks.”
Nicholson was speaking by video link at the second annual NHS leadership and management summit held on 23 May by the healthcare think tank the King’s Fund.
