Safeguarding children from physical, emotional, and sexual abuse is a fundamental duty. It is now five years since baby Peter Connelly’s death and 12 years since that of Victoria Climbié. These deaths highlight the weakness in child protection. Worthy and wordy reports have come from Lord Laming and Professor Munro, and advice is pending from the GMC.
