NHS “hack day” will reward apps and software tools that help patients and doctors

The NHS in England is to hold its first “hack day” to try to develop new software tools to improve health. The two day event on 26 and 27 May in central London will convene clinicians, computer programmers, and web designers to try to rapidly build software tools and smartphone “apps” (applications) to help improve the lives of patients and doctors.
Hack days, also known as software development days, are collaborative events where software developers work together intensely for short periods to construct technological solutions to real world problems.
