An international team of scientists has launched a drive to highlight the dangers of excessive drinking, which is thought to cause one in every eight deaths in people aged 15 to 64 years in Europe.
The importance of raising awareness of dangerous drinking and promoting health over the interests of the drinks industry is emphasised in a new policy briefing paper published on 16 May.1
The paper comes from a group called the Addiction and Lifestyles in Contemporary Europe—Reframing Addictions Project (ALICE RAP), a European Union network of more than 150 researchers from a range of disciplines who study various aspects of addiction.
