Minsters use veto to stop publication of register of risks posed by NHS changes

The official assessment of the risks that the UK government is running by its far reaching shake up of the NHS will not be released to the public, after the cabinet approved a rare use of the ministerial veto to stop publication.

The veto by the health secretary for England, Andrew Lansley, brings to an end a 19 month campaign by the opposition Labour Party and medical bodies to force the Tory led coalition government to publish the transition risk register for the Health and Social Care Act.
