US regulator seeks advice on health risks of metal on metal hip implants

The US Food and Drug Agency has announced it is seeking expert opinions on the risks and benefits of metal on metal hips. The announcement comes in response to a letter from Wisconsin Democrat senator, Herb Kohl, which highlighted the high failure rates of some of these implants.
