A paediatrician has been put on restricted duties pending an internal disciplinary investigation at a crisis hit hospital in the north of England where police are investigating the deaths of at least six patients, including four babies, in an eight month period.
Cumbria Police began their inquiry after a coroner raised concerns about the deaths of four babies and two mothers in 2008 at Furness General Hospital in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.
