Joint working in health and social care remains patchy despite years of effort

Professionals in health and social care are still not working together closely enough to provide care for people despite years of efforts to improve joint working, says the public spending watchdog.
Smooth integrated care is not being achieved across England concludes the report Joining up health and social care published by the Audit Commission on 1 December.
Significant money could be saved if every area were efficient, and primary care trusts could have saved £132m (€154m, $207m) in a year by handling emergency admissions better, said the authors.
