Born in Germany, Sigmar Gunar Norfried Saisch moved with his parents as very young boy to Australia, where he grew up. He gained his first degree, a BSc in physiology, before studying medicine and gaining his MB BS in 1982 at the University of Melbourne. He met Debbie and they moved to England, settling in London, where he completed an MSc in human and applied physiology at King’s College.
