I grew up in a household of boys. We cleaned and cooked; we were domesticated beasts. But we also fought, teased, wrestled, and swore. And at school, teachers shouted and belted us. Then, for boys and girls alike, crying was not an option: no one wanted to be a “cry baby” for the rest of their school career.
