Patients challenge trusts’ decision on location of radiotherapy service

Two patients with cancer are taking four primary care trusts in Essex to the High Court in London, in a landmark legal challenge that could have nationwide repercussions for the configuration of services.

Their lawyers argue that a decision to site radiotherapy services at Southend and Colchester, leaving cancer patients in the NHS Mid Essex area without local services, breaches the Equality Act 2010.
