An expert on addiction has backed the Scottish government’s stance on introducing a minimum price on alcohol.
Peter Anderson, professor of substance use, policy, and practice at the Institute of Health and Society at Newcastle University, said that alcohol was the number one cause of ill health and premature death in Europe. He said that creating an environment where it was easier for the public to make healthy choices was the best way to reduce dependency on drink.
