Researchers warn of flu co-infection risk: Researchers in Cambodia have confirmed a rare incidence of people becoming infected with seasonal flu and the pandemic strain at the same time, says a report in the November issue of the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (doi:10.4269/ajtmh.2011.11-0098). Experts say that flu co-infections in South East Asia deserve particularly close scrutiny given the ongoing transmission of the H5N1 virus and circulation of the pandemic H1N1 virus that first emerged in 2009.
