Proposed new legislation and a political climate sensitive to the private sector offer a rare investment opportunity in the NHS.
Currently, primary care is dominated by small partnerships. And, like pharmacy and veterinary medicine, the workforce is increasingly salaried and often working part time. Management decisions are now concentrated in a dwindling number of partners, many of whom are close to retirement.
