Born in Cardiff, Kenneth Simpson Jones went to Cardiff High School. After qualifying from Westminster Medical School and completing several house jobs, he did two years’ National Service as a medical officer with the Royal Army Medical Corps (RAMC) and then decided on a career in psychiatry.
