MP claims BBC bias on assisted dying: The Labour MP Jim Dobbin has tabled an early day motion in the House of Commons calling for an inquiry into why the BBC did not report a motion on assisted dying at the BMA’s annual conference this month, despite having a reporter there. Representatives at the conference backed the BMA in its refusal to give evidence to the Commission on Assisted Dying (BMJ 2011;343:d4188, doi:10.1136/bmj.d4188). The motion, which received support from 13 MPs, noted “the strong campaign waged by the BBC network” in support of the commission and changes in the law to allow euthanasia.
