  1. Amina Shariff

Having lost his father at a young age and relocated to a remote village in Bangladesh, Shaadat Shariff worked hard to educate himself.

After qualifying, he completed an MSc before accepting a scholarship at the University of Edinburgh, where he obtained a PhD.

He trained in psychiatry in Yorkshire and became consultant in Doncaster in 1982.

After retiring, his passion for learning remained: he loved history and politics, and debating numerous topics with his friends. He kept in touch with his village in Bangladesh, providing funds for the school and helping many of his relatives to start out in life.

He leaves a wife, Razia; two children; and a granddaughter.
