A route map for sustainable healthcare, launched this week, calls on every person and every organisation within the NHS to be more efficient with their use of resources, which includes energy, carbon, water, and people’s time.
The document was produced by the NHS Sustainable Development Unit in collaboration with the Department of Health, the Department of Energy and Climate Change, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and environmental groups. It builds on the progress already made to reduce carbon emissions since the NHS Carbon Reduction Strategy was published two years ago.
