Although a selection of rapid responses will be included online and in print as readers' letters, their first appearance online means that they are published articles. Letters are indexed in PubMed.
The Department of Health (DH) has known about the denial of care to
patients for at least five months (1). Primary Care Trusts (PCTs) have
been breaching their statutory obligations for longer. However the DH has
condoned the situation by not taken action.
It is misleading that patients are not informed about the exclusion
of certain diseases from the 'comprehensive' NHS package. Without this
information patients are not in a position to buy cover for the backhanded
introduction of insurance gaps.
